Charles Wood, MD
Dr. Charles Wood received undergraduate degrees in microbiology and psychology at Louisiana State University and continued on to medical school at the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, graduating as valedictorian. He trained in radiation oncology at the University of Pennsylvania where he served as chief resident, is a graduate of the School of Breast Oncology, and completed a prostate brachytherapy fellowship at the Seattle Prostate Institute. A native of Baton Rouge, Dr. Wood has been with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center since 2007, and has served as Medical Director since 2013.
While attending LSU, Dr. Wood was an active member of the then-fledgling Honors College, receiving Sophomore Honors Distinction. He enjoys running and reading, is a fierce LSU fan, and loves coaching his boys in a variety of sports. He and his wife Brooke have four sons: Briggs, Bowen, Ellis, and Hill.
