How Religions Can Change The World

HNRS 2020 Sec. 061 - Spring 2022

Dr. Kenny Paul Smith Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies

M W F 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
200 French House

Religious leaders and movements have been at the heart of social and cultural change for millennia and around the globe. How did they do it, and what would it mean for you to take the ideas and principles of transformative efforts to make your own impact on the world?

This course will introduce students to religious leaders and movements who have markedly changed their communities – and in some cases, the world  – in remarkably positive ways. In addition, the course will review principles and practices that contemporary leaders have used to guide their own personal transformative efforts. Finally, students will work to make meaningful change in their own communities, guided by the historical and contemporary examples we study.
