Honors Welcome is a series of events intended to welcome incoming students and to provide an orientation to the Ogden Honors College prior to the first day of classes. These events are part of LSU’s campus-wide Bengal Bound events but are specific to Honors College students and their families. Prior to arrival in August, all incoming Ogden Honors students should register for Honors Welcome and Community Bound.
Honors Welcome consists of the following events:
Honors College Welcome Leaders and Residential Life staff assist Honors College students as they move into the Honors House (East and West Laville Halls).
Honors College Family Picnic
During Move-In Day, all families of Honors College students are invited to join the Honors College Parents' Organization, Les Amis des Etudiants, for food and fellowship.
At this breakfast and presentation, new students will meet Honors classmates, receive the Ogden Honors College Student Handbook, and learn about the requirements and opportunities of the Honors College.
In conjunction with the Honors College's first year theme of service, all incoming Honors students are required to participate in this service event, a day of fixing up local public schools.
During the first week of classes the author of the Honors Shared Read addresses incoming Honors Students as a kickoff to the academic experience at LSU.
