Applying to the LSU Honors College
"To Do" list to apply (for High School Seniors)
- Take the ACT or SAT with the essay writing component, having scores sent to LSU.
- Apply for undergraduate admission to LSU before November 15, indicating that you wish to be considered for admission to the Honors College.
- Apply to live in the Laville/Acadian Honors House before March 8. (For Honors Housing application procedures, please see "Apply for Honors Housing.")
Admitted honors students receive priority assignment in Laville/Acadian Honors House if they apply for housing before March 8, indicating their first preference for Laville/Acadian Honors House.

Incoming Freshmen:
The Honors College application is part of the
LSU Application
for Undergraduate Admission. The deadline to apply and be considered for the Honors College is
November
15. The requirements for admission to the Honors College as an incoming freshman
are:
- Academic high school gpa: 3.50 (weighed by LSU)
- Recommended SAT: 1320 Critical Reading + Mathematics (combined) with 660 Critical Reading
- Recommended ACT: 30 Composite with 30 English, or 29 Composite with 31 English
- The essay completed as part of the writing component of the SAT or ACT will be used in Honors College admission consideration.
Students who have already completed the Application for Undergraduate Admission, but did not indicate the option for Honors College admission consideration, may amend their applications by contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 225/578-1175.
All applications will be reviewed after the November 15 application deadline. Students will be notified of their admission status beginning in mid-December.
Transfer and Continuing Students:
Transfer and continuing LSU students interested in applying to the Honors
College must complete the Transfer and Continuing
Students' application form. (Transfer students must also complete the
LSU Application for
Undergraduate Admission.) The requirements for admission as a transfer or continuing student
are a 3.5 cumulative gpa in all college coursework taken and an excellent 400-600 word essay.
Application Deadlines for Transfer and Continuing Students:
Fall 2008 applicants - June 15, 2008
Spring 2009 applicants - December 15, 2008
Fall 2009 applicants - June 15, 2009
