Upper Division Honors Distinction
Many Honors students choose to continue Honors work throughout their college years. Upper Division Honors consists of doing Honors work in courses at the 3000 level or above, including three to six hours of research. The non-research hours are normally taken as "Honors options," where Honors recognition is given after taking a regular course and doing additional Honors-quality work as agreed upon by the student and professor. The Honors Contract (available at the Honors College), describing this work and with all required signatures, must be filed at the Honors College by the 14th day of the semester. At the semester’s end, the student must return the Honors Option Report to the Honors College, signed by the professor, indicating the work has been satisfactorily completed.
During the senior year, Upper Division Honors students complete the senior thesis/project in their major field. This work culminates in an oral exam or presentation before an appointed faculty committee.
