Honors College Affiliated Student Organizations
Currently four student organizations are affiliated with the Honors College. Affiliation with the Honors College means that all voting members of these organizations are in good standing with the Honors College. Below is a brief description of each of these organizations; for more information about each please visit these organization's web sites by clicking on the name of the organization:
Honors College Student Council (HCSC)
HCSC promotes the interests and welfare of the LSU Honors College, to provides social, cultural and, educational opportunities for the students of the Honors College, maintains a forum for the discussion of issues and concerns vital to the students of the Honors College, and to represents those concerns to the campus and community. Anyone who is enrolled in the Honors College is a member of the Honors College Student Council, but active membership is required to hold an office.
Honors College Advocates
"The Advocates" recruit academically motivated high schools students, assist incoming freshmen with the transition to college life, and promote the Honors College and its services.
Focusing on College and Unlimited Success (FOCUS)
FOCUS immerses high-achieving high school students, from under-resourced public schools, in arts and humanities commonly cut from the K-12 curriculum. FOCUS members create every aspect of a two-week summer camp in creative writing, philosophy, dance, theater, studio art, and music as well as college prep, science, culture and language, then implement this camp in the last two weeks of July.
Apollo's Lyre
"The Lyre" seeks to raise interest in writing by producing a magazine of student writing for the Honors College community and helping students improve the quality of their writing. Through these efforts Apollo’s Lyre fosters a writing community within the Honors College.
