Wednesday, August 17 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Laville Courtyard
Bring your family and join the Ogden Honors College staff and students for lunch at our annual Family Picnic, hosted by the Honors College parents' organization, Les Amis des Etudiants. All Ogden Honors College students and their families are invited.
Thursday, August 18 at 10:00 AM in Bo Campbell Auditorium (located in the Gym Armory/Cox Communications Academic Center)
You will receive your LSU Honors College Student Handbook, learn more about the requirements and opportunities the Ogden Honors College offers, and have a chance to ask questions of current Honors students. All first-year Honors students must register for Honors Welcome.
Community Bound (originally scheduled for Friday, August 19) is postponed as a result of the severe flooding that has impacted East Baton Rouge Parish schools. If you originally registered to volunteer for Community Bound, you will receive a follow-up email from LSU Campus Life about rescheduled dates with any instructions you will need to follow.
- Members of the LSU community who would like to volunteer to help those in need can register to volunteer through their myLSU account. Helpful information for those affected and those who would like to help will be updated on www.lsu.edu/floodrelief.
- Financial donations can be made via the Red Cross (be sure to select “Louisiana Floods” under the heading “use my donation to support”) or visit volunteerlouisiana.gov to give your time.
Wednesday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the LSU Student Union Ballroom
To launch the academic year, Helen Thorpe, author of Soldier Girls, will address the Ogden Honors College Class of 2020. You are expected to purchase and read Soldier Girls before you arrive in August. The book follows the lives of three women who join the Indiana National Guard. The book is intended to spark the type of vibrant conversations that are fundamental to the Honors experience at LSU.
If you plan to participate in Fraternity Recruitment, Sorority Recruitment, or Tiger Band, and/or if you are in a Residential College (e.g., Business, Engineering, Mass Communication, etc.), please be sure to check the appropriate selections on the Honors Welcome registration page.
