Cemeteries are everywhere. They pass in and out of our lines of sight on a daily basis. Yet rarely do we contemplate the past, present, and future of these presumably sacred sites. By concentrating on two cemeteries in environmentally vulnerable areas of Louisiana—the Morganza Spillway and Bayou Lafourche—we can gain a richer understanding of how our attempts to control nature have an impact on our ability to remember and forget the dead.
