This year's Honors College Service Project will take place on Saturday, April 2 at the historic Lutheran Cemetery in Old South Baton Rouge, which is just north of campus. LSU students worked at this site in 2002 and 2005, but since that time, the grounds have become overgrown. Beautification of the cemetery, and the surrounding neighborhood, is an important part of the Baton Rouge Metro Council's economic redevelopment plan for the area.
Volunteers should be prepared for a day of outdoor work (closed-toed shoes, pants, sun screen, etc.). Transportation from campus to the work site (departing at 8:45 AM from West Laville) and back (returning at 3:15 PM) will be provided. Tools and equipment will be provided. Drinks and lunch will be provided. Specific details will be emailed to registrants as the project approaches.
This project is sponsored by Metro Council Representative Tara Wicker, Campus Federal Credit Union, LSU Department of Residential Life, and the Honors College.
