Did you know that the US Department of State offers a wide variety of summer internships applicable to almost every major offered by LSU? A DOS internship can provide you will valuable work experience even if you aren't planning to work in the public sector. If you're interest in these opportunities, or in international affairs and career opportunities in diplomacy and the US Department of State's Foreign Service, you should attend this info session.
Career member of the Foreign Service John C. Roberts, current Diplomat-in-Residence for Texas and Louisiana, will share information on internships and careers at the DOS, and discuss his personal experiences as diplomat. Mr. Roberts has served in roles and posts the world over, including at the US Embassy in Baghdad and as a member of the Executive Staff for Secretary of State Colin Powell and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. He will provide information about DOS work requirements and benefits, the job application process, the benefits, and the challenges and rewards of this type of work. If you have excellent people skills or an interest in living and working in a foreign country, consider a career with the Department of State-- so bring your curiosity, your questions, and you friends! Refreshments will be provided.
