Faculty Friends
Honors House Faculty Friends
The Honors House Faculty Friends serve as mentors for Honors College students living in East Laville and Acadian Halls. Currently, they are responsible for giving research presentations and leading informal discussion on hot topics, such as "Is Watchmen Really That Good?" or "Obama and the Old Civil Rights Leaders." They can also host course review sessions in the Honors House and attend hall events, and they can even take their students to lunch or dinner at the 459 Dining Hall.
One of the goals of the Honors College's Faculty Friends program is to promote student interaction with research faculty. We know that students who have out-of-class contact with faculty members are more likely to have successful college careers. We also know that students who personally learn about the scholarship of their professors will be encouraged to engage in their research and intellectual inquiry.
Over the past year, the following LSU faculty members have been Honors House Faculty Friends. The titles of their research presentations are in parenthesis.
