These events are part of LSU’s Bengal Bound schedule but are specific to Honors College students and their families. All incoming students are required to register for Honors Welcome and the Community Bound Service Plunge using the link below.

Honors College Welcome Leaders and Residential Life staff will be available to assist you in moving into East and West Laville Halls. For more information about move-in procedures, please visit the Department of Residential Life's Move-In Day page.
Honors College Family Picnic
Thursday, August 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Laville Courtyard
Bring your family and join the Honors College staff and students for lunch at our annual Family Picnic, hosted by the Honors College parents' organization, Les Amis des Etudiants. All Honors College students and their families are invited.
Friday, August 17 at 9:00 a.m. in the LSU Student Union Ballroom
After eating breakfast with your new Honors classmates, you will receive your LSU Honors College Student Handbook, learn more about the requirements and opportunities the Honors College offers, and have a chance to ask questions of current Honors students. All first-year Honors students must register for Honors Welcome.
Community Bound Service Plunge
Saturday, August 18 at 9:00 a.m. in the LSU Student Union Theater
As service is the theme for your first year in the Honors College, all incoming Honors students will participate in a day of service fixing up local public schools and other community sites. You will be re-directed to the Community Bound registration page after signing up for Honors Welcome below. Registration for Community Bound is required.
Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the LSU Student Union Ballroom
To launch the academic year, Luis Urrea, author of The Devil's Highway, will welcome the Honors College Class of 2016 to LSU. You are expected to purchase and read The Devil's Highway before you arrive in August. The book explores immigration from the perspective of 26 men who unsuccessfully attempted to cross the Mexican border into Arizona in 2001. The book touches on many topics that still resonate within society today; we hope this sparks the type of vibrant conversations that are fundamental to the Honors Experience at LSU.
If you plan to participate in Fraternity or Sorority Recruitment or Tiger Band, please be sure to check the appropriate box on the Honors Welcome registration page.
