Honors College Students Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships
This year two recent Honors College graduates, Jessica Brinson and Arrielle Opotowsky received National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowships. The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program aims to exure the vitality of the United States’ human resource base of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by funding graduate study in these fields.
Jessica, who graduated in December 2009 with Upper Division Honors in Physics, will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall to pursue a Ph.D. in high energy experimental physics. Arrielle, who also graduated in December 2009 with a degree in Physics, is currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a Ph.D. in the Materials Science Program. She hopes to conduct research in the private sector in a field related to alternative energy.
