Ogden Honors Alumna to Speak at Honors Graduation Ceremony

The Ogden Honors College will hold its graduation ceremony on May 11

Ogden Honors College alumna Amanda Staiano will address the graduating class of Ogden Honors students on Thursday, May 11.

A native of Baton Rouge, Dr. Staiano attended the LSU Laboratory School and studied psychology at LSU. Her fascination with childhood development led her to Georgetown University, where she earned her Ph.D. in developmental psychology at the age of 25.

Today, she is an assistant professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, where she directs the Pediatric Obesity and Health Behavior Laboratory and researches ways to use technology like video games and apps to promote physical activity and healthy weight among children and teens.

In 2015, Dr. Staiano was named one of Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty under 40, their annual list of the most influential young professionals in the Capital Region.
