Ogden Honors Founding Dean Billy Seay Passes Away

OHC Deans Past and Present from L to R: Ed Henderson, Billy Seay, Nancy Clark, and Jonathan Earle

It is with great sadness that the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College mourns the passing of Dr. Billy M. Seay, founding dean of the LSU Honors College. Seay passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

Seay was director of the LSU Honors Program when it became a College in 1992; he served as dean until 2003.

“Dean Seay ably guided the Honors College during its early years, and generations of students have benefitted from the foundation he laid here,” said current Dean Jonathan Earle. “It was especially gratifying to me to see him attend his granddaughter’s, Margaret Carey’s, graduation from the Ogden Honors College in 2019.”

Dr. Seay’s obituary can be found here. Memorial donations may be made to the Ogden Honors College by visiting www.lsufoundation.org/givetohonors.
