Opportunities for Support
Here are ways you can support the college:
- Recruiting: Let us know of prospective students we should be recruiting. Host a recruiting event, meet with prospective students and their parents, help contact prospective students and parents in your area.
- Mentoring: Many students at the Honors College are interested in career mentoring opportunities with alumni. Contac honors@lsu.edu for more information on how to be a mentor or resource for Honors College students.
- Internships and Employment: Looking for an intern or an employee (Spring Break, summer or full-time)? Contact honors@lsu.edu at the Honors College, our students are always looking for such opportunities.
- Alumni Network: Help us find our “lost” alumni. Help us plan activities that will involve our alumni in the life of the College and will provide opportunities for them to network. Contact honors@lsu.edu if you would like to help create our alumni network
- Give to the Honors College: There has never been a better time to support the LSU Honors College. We need support for student research and travel, class field trips, and special course needs. We need scholarship support and student activity funds. The list goes on! Check out “How To Give” for more information.
How to Give to LSU Honors College
Contributions to the Honors College come in two forms. Contributions to the Honors College Excellence Fund provide unrestricted support for scholarships, guest lecturers, conferences, seminars, faculty support, student travel and research needs, among other things. These unrestricted funds allow the College to respond immediately to issues of pressing need, and they make the difference in our ability to provide an excellent education to our students.
The Honors College also seeks funds to build an endowment to support faculty, student, and campus needs. Our major goals include:
Honors College Faculty Endowment
The best students want to study with the best faculty. They want to study with
faculty who are experienced researchers and superb teachers, people who are
national leaders in their fields of scholarship. Our goal is to establish
a faculty endowment to bring the best teachers in the nation to LSU, and
to support LSU faculty in developing new and innovative course offerings.
Honors College Student Endowment
Three main reasons account for a student's choice of a particular Honors program:
the scholarship offered by the chosen school, the reputation of the Honors
program, and the reputation of the university. The Honors College has for
a considerable time been regarded as one of the best such programs in the
nation. But the College has lacked funding for scholarships.
We propose to establish a scholarship program competitive with those of our national peers, attracting the top students nationwide, and retaining those students by offering them study and research opportunities that match or exceed those of our peer institutions.
Honors College Sustaining Endowment
The Honors College seeks to develop new initiatives that will enhance institutional
investments, give the Honors College a distinct identity, and make it the
best Honors program in the country. A sustaining endowment will help ensure
that future generations of Honors Students continue to receive a great education.
