Postgraduate Awards
The Office of Fellowship Advising, housed in the
Honors College, advises all LSU students on postgraduate fellowships, with
special emphasis on the distinguished or "top" scholarships, such as the
Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Gates, Goldwater, NSF, and Mellon. The Office
1) serves as a centralized resource for information on distinguished
scholarships for LSU students.
2) publicizes scholarship opportunities to the LSU student community and
recruits applicants for prestigious awards.
3) provides assistance in the preparation of effective and competitive
applications.
4) publicizes the successful outcomes of such applications.
Throughout the semester, the Office of Fellowship Advising
1) presents informational sessions that introduce students to the variety of
scholarships available
2) offers workshops to advise students of successful application strategies,
including how to write effective personal statements, recruit effective
recommenders, and perform effectively during the interview process.
Individual mentoring, practice interviews, and help with the editing and
revising of applications are provided.
