Ann Sumner Holmes has been on the faculty at LSU since 1987. At the Honors College, she has taught seminars in Classical Civilization, Medieval Civilization, 20th-Century Britain, and HNRS 2000. She helped to establish Les Amis des Etudiants, the parents' organization, in 1999, and she served as adviser to the Honors College Student Council for over ten years. Dr. Holmes has published articles on the double standard in the English divorce laws, maternal adultery and child custody, and a comparison of King Edward VIII and Prince Charles. She is the author of The Church of England and Divorce in the Twentieth Century: Legalism and Grace (Routledge, 2017). As Associate Dean, Dr. Holmes works with the LSU faculty to develop new classes for students in the Honors College.
