Technology in Films: Is It Real?

This course is designed to introduce students basic and relevant knowledge on selected technologies and technical gadgets described in films. A brief history and examples of modern technologies, such as electronics, microtechnology, and nanotechnology, will be concisely introduced. Principles and reality of selected technologies described in films will be reviewed and discussed including wearable electronics, telecommunication tools, robotic devices, and so on. Students are expected to discuss limitations and challenges of technologies shown in films. Throughout the course, students will gain knowledge on contemporary issues and prospects in electronics, microtechnology, and nanotechnology.
