Understanding the complexities surrounding the human/nature relationship provides us with a necessary framework to co-exist in an ever-changing world. How we experience nature and the environment, however, differs among and between communities. In this course, we will collaborate with peers from Scott Community College in Iowa and San Jose State University in California to explore environmental issues we face, compare their effects, and identify perceptions we hold about the impacted communities. We will learn about the process of research at the intersection of science and social sciences, emphasize science literacy across disciplines, and develop writing and technological communication skills in this immersive research experience.
