Honors Welcome is a series of events for new Honors College students that take place before the first day of classes. These events are part of LSU’s Bengal Bound events, but they are specific to Honors College students and their families. All incoming students should register for Honors Welcome and the Community Bound Service Plunge using the link below.

Roaring Into The Halls (Move-In Day)

Thursday, August 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Honors College students can move into their residence halls at any time after 8:00 a.m.  Honors College Welcome Leaders and Residential Life staff will be available to assist you. Please use designated unloading zones. For more information, please visit the Department of Residential Life's Move-in Day/Roaring into the Halls page.

If you are an Honors student living in a residence hall other than West Laville or Acadian Hall please visit the Roaring into the Halls page for more information about your specific residence hall’s move-in day details.

Honors College Family Picnic

Thursday, August 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the French House Patio

Bring your family and join the Honors College staff and students for lunch at our annual Family Picnic, hosted by the Honors College parents' organization, Les Amis des Etudiants.  All Honors College students and their families are invited.

Honors Welcome 2010

Friday, August 20 at 9:00 a.m. in the French House

After breakfast with your new Honors classmates, you will receive your LSU Honors College Student Handbook and learn about the requirements and opportunities the Honors College offers.  All first-year Honors students must register for Honors Welcome.

Community Bound Service Plunge

Saturday, August 21 at 9:00 a.m. in Bo Campbell Auditorium

Service is the theme for your first year in the Honors College. All incoming Honors students will participate in a day of service fixing up local public schools.  Registration for this event is required as part of Honors Welcome.  (You will be redirected to the Community Bound registration page after signing up for Honors Welcome below.)

Honors Convocation

Wednesday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the LSU Student Union Ballroom

To kickoff the academic year, Dave Eggers, author of Zeitoun, will address the class of 2014. You are expected to purchase and read Zeitoun before you arrive in August.  Zeitoun is the story of one man’s experience in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, and a meditation on the bonds that hold people together and the fears that drive them apart.  It is a book that is likely to generate conflicting responses and so, we hope, to begin the sort of vibrant conversation that is fundamental to the Honors Experience at LSU.

If you plan to participate in Fraternity or Sorority Recruitment, please be sure to check the appropriate boxes when you register for Honors Welcome and take note of the specific time for your alternate Honors Welcome session .
