Community Bound

  • Please remember to bring your LSU ID card.
  • In order to volunteer with children in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, all volunteers must successfully complete a background check. Be sure to look out for emails from Volunteer LSU for instructions on how to complete this step. Background checks must be complete by 4:30 PM on Friday, August 10.
  • If you did not previously register for Community Bound before the deadline, you may register on-site on Friday, August 17.

Honors Convocation

Wednesday, August 29 at 7:30 PM in the LSU Student Union Ballroom

To launch the academic year, Gary Younge, author of Another Day in the Death of America, will address the Ogden Honors College Class of 2022. You are expected to purchase and read Another Day in the Death of America before you arrive in August. Younge's book details the lives of ten children and teens—ranging from ages nine to nineteen—who were killed by guns. Younge captures the impact of these gun-deaths by restricting his narrative to a single day in November of 2013. The book is intended to spark the type of vibrant conversations that are fundamental to the Honors experience at LSU.

If you plan to participate in Fraternity Recruitment, Sorority Recruitment, or Tiger Band, and/or if you are in a Residential College (e.g., Business, Engineering, Mass Communication, etc.), please be sure to check the appropriate selections on the Honors Welcome registration page.
