Study Abroad Advising

Ogden Honors College academic advisers assist students in selecting study abroad opportunities that best fit within their broader academic plans. One of our academic advisers specializes in study abroad advising, and coordinates with Academic Programs Abroad (APA), the primary office for international student programs. Alongside APA, Honors advising can help students consider how a study abroad program might fit with their major requirements, research interests, language abilities, and financial aid packages.

Our study abroad adviser can also provide students with information on abroad programs led by LSU faculty and staff, as well as on programs and exchanges conducted through outside institutions. Our advisers can assist students in considering transfer of credit for study abroad coursework to LSU, and can help to connect students with opportunities for study abroad scholarships, particularly Ogden Honors College study abroad scholarships. We also host an annual Study Abroad Fair on the Honors Campus in the fall semester, at which students can obtain information on the wide variety of LSU summer study abroad programs, and meet and ask questions of their representatives.

The Ogden Honors College also hosts its own annual summer study abroad program, which in years past has taken students to China, South Africa, and Cuba. These programs are led by an LSU faculty member and the Ogden Honors study abroad adviser. Participating students receive both LSU and Honors credit for the program's coursework.
