This course introduces students to some of the most fascinating and provocative figures, texts, and works of art created between about 1800 and the present. Readings include works by Mary Shelley, Karl Marx, Henrik Ibsen, Anton Chekhov, Vladimir Lenin, and Friedrich Hayek. Course assignments include weekly quizzes, two take-home midterm exams, a final exam, and one creative assignment.
