Working with the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP), Honors College students will travel to Port Fourchon, Louisiana to plant marsh grasses on a restored maritime ridge, which was built to protect the area from storm surge. 

Transportation to and from Port Fourchon will be provided by LSU.  All planting equipment will be provided by BTNEP.  Volunteers should be prepared for heat and sunny weather and dress appropriately. No open-toed shoes, please. Lunch and drinks will also be provided by BTNEP. Volunteers will be shuttled by boat to the ridge.

Check in for the trip will begin at 5:00 am on Saturday, October 5 in the lobby of the Laville Honors House. Buses will leave promptly at 5:30 am. Students can expect to be back on campus by 5 pm. 

When you register, please make sure to let us know if you have special dietary needs and/or if you are allergic to anything. Also, please make sure sure to give us a working email and cell phone number, as we will be in contact before the date of the trip with important details.
