As part of Honors 2000, the Honors College faculty is screening four films about the First World War. Regeneration, the fourth installment of the series, is based on Pat Barker's 1991 novel of the same name. The film, released in 1997, explores the lives British soldiers and poets, as they interact at Craiglockhart War Hospital in Scotland in 1917. The film explores the effects of PTSD, then known as “shell shock,” and its early treatments as developed by the psychiatrist Dr. William Halse Rivers, who is also depicted in the film.
