Apply-Transfer and Continuing
The application process for students already enrolled in college
Requirements
Transfer students entering Louisiana State University and continuing LSU students are welcome to apply for admission to the Honors College if they meet the following recommended admission criteria:
- 3.5 cumulative GPA in all college coursework taken
- An excellent 400-600 word essay
- At least four semesters of college course work remaining in their major
Transfer Students
Transfer students must first complete the LSU Application for Undergraduate Admission, then the Honors College’s separate Transfer and Continuing Student Application. Transfer students must be admitted to LSU before their Honors College application will be reviewed. Official transcripts from previous institutions must be sent to the University's Office of Undergraduate Admission and Student Aid. Additional copies of transcripts may also be sent to the Honors College. High school information and ACT/SAT scores will not be taken into consideration during admission review.
Note: For admission to LSU, applicants who have completed at least 30 credit hours of college or university work must apply as a "transfer student," while those who have earned fewer than 30 hours of college-level work must apply as a "new freshman." However, for Honors College admission, all students transferring to LSU should complete the Honors College's Transfer and Continuing Students’ Application.
Continuing LSU Students
Students currently attending LSU must complete the Honors College’s Transfer and Continuing Student Application. Students may apply for admission after completion of at least one full-time semester. Students are not required to submit transcripts as they can be obtained through student records. High school information and ACT/SAT scores will not be taken into consideration during admission review.
Timeline
Applications may be submitted at any time during the year, but will be reviewed for either fall or spring semester admission. Applications will be reviewed in the weeks following the application deadline. Students will be notified of their admission status approximately one month after the application deadline.
